Taxila is one of the oldest and historical-cultural sites in Pakistan in the Buddhist religion. Taxila is a tehsil of Rawalpindi and situated about 32 km Northwest of Islamabad. Taxila was historically referred to as Taksbashila in Sanskrit and Takkasila in Pali. The earliest settlement at Taxila was found around 1000BCE. Taxila is Holly place for Buddhist religion and has a huge importance for Hindu and Buddhist peoples. Some famous Buddha statues have been taken to the Taxila museum. In 1916 Sir John Marshall discovered this archaeology. it consists of two parts. These ruins would have a surprise for the incoming tourist. In one part, people of Buddha religion worship while the other part was specified for the University named as Julian. In the middle of the University it has a pond where rainwater was collected. Even today people are surprised to see this university. Thousands of local National and international tourists visit these ruins of Texila every year.
