Mangla Dam is situated on the borders of Punjab and AJK. The beauty of this lake has surrounded an anonymous fort which is named “RamKot Fort”. This fort is mounted high on the junction of two rivers, Jhelum and Poonch.

This remarkable fort is diverse from the other forts in the Kashmir due to its unusual architecture.

The fort was under the control of emperor Dogra of Kashmir in the nineteenth century. It was constructed over an ancient temple of Shiva. If you decide to visit the place, the only way to get there is through a boat that you can grab from a sports club situated on Mangla Dam. After a sail of ten minutes, you will get a clear view of the magnificent fort on the northern bank of the lake.

Unfortunately, this complex location keeps the crowds of visitors away.
