Attock Fort

The fort was constructed on the bank of Indus River, in the spot of “Atta-Khurd” during the age of Mughal emperor Jala-Uddin Akbar.

When Mirza Hakim, the governor of Kabul and the stepbrother of Jalal-Uddin attacked the state of Punjab. Emperor Jala-Uddin Akbar defeated him away and planned to build this fort on his way back from Kabul after a war operation. He realized the defensive end of the fort on the site and, therefore, ordered to build a fortress of Attock.

In 1812 the Sikhs won against the Mughals and occupied the fort till 1842.

Britain prime minister Anthony Eden was born in the fort in 1901 and Britain’s government took over the fort till 1947.

Within the fort, the tourist attractions include its doorways, taller strutting fences, and Turkish style bathrooms.

Fort has four gigantic gates named as,

Mori Gate

Kabuli Gate

Lahori Gate

Delhi Gate

NAB and Special Services Groups imprisoned a number of famous personalities in the fort that comprises many of political leaders and ministers.
